Hello all, long time no see huh?
It’s been over a month since I last sat down to talk to you all, uni life has been keeping me very busy. So whilst I have a few minuets free I thought I’d sit down and get you all up to speed on what’s been happening and talk about some cool projects I’ve got lined up.
So let’s start with the biggest change in my life, uni.
University is amazing, I love it here and I’ve got a small group of friends who are just the best. I’m currently looking at getting a house for next year with them so I’m feeling like a proper adult.
My course is everything I could have hoped for and more, I’m so glad I took the risk with it. Even in three months I can see just how much I’ve developed as a writer and it’s so exciting to think about the next few years and how much more I will grow. Obviously there is an awful lot of writing involved (hence why I just haven’t had the time to be blogging) and I’ve wrote more poems in the last three months than I have in the rest of my life. But I’m certain that I want to work in the writing industry when I leave here.
I managed for find a church and I’m slowly settling in there. Not going to lie, it’s so strange being surrounded by Christians who are my age. But it’s nice to have full responsibility over my faith, I don’t have to rely on other people to give me a lift on a Sunday. If I want to go to church that week then I can, there’s nothing stopping me what’s lovely.
I thought I’d be more involved in sports and various society’s here at Bangor, but I’ve only taken up one sport – Brazilian jiu jitsu. Can’t say I ever expected myself to start bjj but I love it. I don’t manage every week because of my mobility issues, but when I can do I always come away smiling. It’s a fantastic sport. I’m awful at it, but I love it all the same.
I’ve been working on some side projects as well whilst I’m here. My professors really do encourage us to do our own thing as writers and start our own work alongside our degree. These side projects are another reason why I’ve had to cut down on my time spent blogging.
At the moment I’m working on two things.
One is a poetry collection called Ice Tea, although the name may change as I develop my collection further. This will be my first every collection of my poems and I hope to have it published and up for sale.
The second is my book!
I’m in the process of writing the first draft of my story. It’s going to be a paranormal short story. I can’t share the title with you just yet because it’s already changed four times ( the title will be the last thing I decide for it) but I’m thinking of straying away from the typical YA category.
Same as my poetry collection, the end goal is of course to have it published and up for sale. At the moment though, I’m not focusing on how that’s going to happen, right now my main goal is to get that first draft done.
I’m feeling confident about my book, what I’ve wrote so far has been reviewed by my classmates and their responses have all been very positive. There was some debate over the ending as what I originally set out for didn’t feel all that good when it came to outlining the story, but I’ve now changed it to a far better one I know people will love.
Of course I’m going to be sharing the writing process with you all. Some of you might have noticed that my blog has had a update and we have a new category called ‘Life of a writer’. In this section I’m going to be opening up what it’s like to be a writer and I’ll share my experiences on my journey to being an author. There’s going to be a lot of sneak peaks into my book and poetry collection to, so if that is something you’re interested it make sure you’re subscribed either through email or WordPress itself.
So there we are, that was my lightning fast update for you guys.
I’m so sorry I haven’t managed to blog as much as you guys might have been hoping for, but I hope this post has explained why and that you’re excited as I am for my upcoming projects.
I’ve got to run now, I have seven assignments due in very soon so I need to go and work on them for a bit.
Look after yourselves guys and I hope to speak to you very soon.
